We are looking to recognise someone who has made an outstanding contribution in their field, over a sustained period. They will have had significant impact, either on a business, individuals, or community, and will be acknowledged for the difference they have made. This person will demonstrate qualities that justify the respect in which they are held; qualities such as, for example, those associated with leading and inspiring others, loyalty, working relationships, and expertise. Fundamental to this award, is the benefit that this person has brought to others, and the selfless way in which they have contributed, overall, to society throughout the years.

Have you an apprentice who works for your business, and who has made excellent progress whilst in your care? Has he/she shown an exemplary ability to listen and connect with a range of very different people? We would like to reward a young person who has demonstrated that they are willing to listen to others, will act on advice and are able to contribute as part of a team, yet they will be able to work independently. Conscientious and self-motivated, they will have shown you that they are able to work on their own initiative, have excellent communication skills and are passionate about their role. They will learn quickly and apply technical skills to their work with confidence.

Signifying all that is excellent in leadership and having exemplary interpersonal skills, an outstanding businessperson is someone who has earned respect throughout an organisation and raised its profile through the skills he/she applies to their role. Highly motivated, they will have demonstrated remarkable business acumen and achieved significant growth and return on investment. Adaptable and open to suggestions, they possess the ability to communicate on all levels and have an outstanding knowledge of the company, its competitors, and the requirements of its customers. They promote the role of the organisation within the community and lead by example when embracing CSR strategies.

Outstanding entrepreneurs are motivated, dynamic, and come from all walks of life. They often think outside the box, are creative, and can adapt easily. We are interested in entrepreneurs who have sought to further their company’s interests, and experienced outstanding impact through their willingness to experiment, their decisiveness, and an ability to look ahead to the long term. They will possess excellent problem-solving skills, be strategic and determined, and endeavour to enthuse others. Outstanding mentors have to ability to extract the best from those they support at whatever level they work. We want to hear of mentors who have made a significant and positive contribution to a business by the exceptional advice and encouragement they give; and of their mentees who, as a result, have subsequently flourished and gone on to achieve exceptionally in their career. What makes the mentor unique and why do they excel at what they do?

Does your company have a star employee who shows great potential and has had a significant impact on the business or its workforce? It could be a dynamic individual who has worked on a restructuring programme or new project, or perhaps someone who sees things differently and has used their ideas to change the fortunes of the company, or maybe a staff member who has made significant impact on the wellbeing of those who work there. This award is aimed at a dynamic leader who has used creativity and vision to develop an idea into a successful business. Entries must demonstrate product/service innovation, and steady growth of the enterprise in terms of staff members, customers and turnover. The submission should include the entrepreneur’s background, how they spotted an opportunity and the challenges they overcame to develop this. What commercial strategy, distribution and financial evidence are in place, and what plans are there for the future? Customer feedback and market reaction should be included.
